First Time Using Natpro
What may occur when using Progesterone Cream for the first time
It is most important that you understand and are aware of certain symptoms which may be experienced when using progesterone cream for the first time.
People react differently to certain things, what may cause you discomfort, will not to others. You may experience 'adverse' symptoms often encountered by men and women if they have a naturally high level of estrogen or, in the case of women, who have been on HRT (hormone replacement therapy) or the contraceptive Pill for any length of time and therefore have low progesterone levels. In some cases you may feel an ache or a pain in your joints, or you may retain water, or put on some weight. Please persevere with the progesterone cream, DO NOT stop using it as these uncomfortable symptoms should clear up within a week IF used as suggested.
As you use progesterone it will gradually become the dominant hormone which is what is needed. As this happens symptoms begin to ease.
Some women never experience estrogen dominance, in others it can take several days, whilst in others it can last longer. Much depends on the amount of excess estrogen that is present. Men can also experience estrogen dominance when first using progesterone.
You are estrogen dominant if you experience some of the symptoms listed below. Men also experience these symptoms apart from the obvious women's problems
- Aches and pains
- Anger
- Bleeding which comes either earlier or later than usual
- Bloating/weight gain due to water retention
- Breast tenderness
- Bruising
- Constipation
- Dizziness
- Headaches
- Heart palpitations
- Hot flushes
- Hypoglycaemia
- Increased appetite/cravings
- Irritation
- Migraines
- Mild depression
- Mood swings
- Muscle weakness
- Nausea
- Skin problems/acne/melasma
- Spotting
- Tiredness/chronic fatigue

If you experience any of these symptoms then your choice is to either...
- Increase the dose and persevere with the symptoms.
- Reduce the dose considerably to begin with and then gradually increase it over a month or two. This will understandably take longer to resolve symptoms.
Please follow these instructions when using progesterone cream for the first time
- If you no longer follow a monthly cycle and are experiencing menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, progesterone cream must be used every day.
- Use 6ml (1 heaped teaspoon) per day — 3ml in the morning and 3ml at night. Use this amount for 5 days, then slowly begin reducing the dose.
- If you reduce too quickly and symptoms return, increase your dose again for a few more days, then reduce more gradually.
- The goal is to reach 3ml per day — 1½ml in the morning and 1½ml at night.
- Do not apply progesterone cream all at once. Spread the dose to maintain even progesterone levels.
- If any symptoms return, slightly increase your dose. Adjust based on what your body needs.
- Once symptoms disappear, do not use less than 3ml per day.
- For peri-menopause with irregular bleeding, follow the same daily usage instructions above. Bleeding may normalise or stop as menopause progresses.
- If you follow a monthly cycle, use progesterone cream according to your cycle. For example, with a 28-day cycle, start the cream 14 days before your period begins.
If you do not follow the above instructions it will not work and you will think that the progesterone cream is rubbish which is totally untrue!
